Negroni even before being a cocktail is a surname, that of Camillo Negroni. Count but above all adventurer of those of yesteryear: globetrotter, cowboy, in the United States, equestrian and fencing shooter, inveterate gambler and naturally a great drinker.
And so between 1919 and 1920, returning from a trip to London, he took home a great desire for gin, which he immediately went to look for in his trusted bar. Here, he who used to drink the most classic of Milan-Turin asked the barman "a splash of gin" instead of seltzer.
